Dutch Lions / YSA Holland « Thread Started on Nov 6, 2009, 10:27pm »
18th - 20th June Heerjansdam, Nr, Rotterdam, is there still a few who fancy this trip ?, check page 2 of Winter Newsletter for more details, will mention it next meeting.
PS Was also a few non members interested, if its a goer it would be good to have as many as possible, so any non members reading this also get in touch
The idea is, Zeebrugee up to rally on the friday heading up the coast road that takes you over the dams and Islands on the North Sea, couple of pints on the way(of course), get to rally friday afternoon, saturday morning, train( or whatever) into Amsterdam, sat evening back to rally, sunday morning head down to Ostend, spend night around city, monday morning ,wee run down to Dunkirk then travel back up to Zeebrugee mon afternoon, sounds a lot but its only a couple of hundred miles and we have taken in three countries over the whole weekend, certainly something different.

Monday morning Scottie, you know what its like hanging about, so...... just to say that we have been to France ( thats the main reason, just taking in another country) a wee trip down to Dunkirk is only 30 miles, we could even stop for a pint in the first village over the border for that matter and save around 10/15 miles each way , As for Newcastle think its better doing all your travelling abroad different scenery, the amount of times i've been down the A1, and lets face it thats a round trip of around 250 miles, working out the total miles including going over to Rosyth is about 350 miles, when you take it over the weekend its fcuk all really.
Thursday.... Uphall to Rosyth 10 miles Friday......... Zeebrugge to Rotterdam 116 miles Sunday....... Rotterdam to Ostend 137 miles Monday....... Ostend to Dunkirk 30 miles Monday....... Dunkirk to Zeebrugge 50 miles Tuesday..... Rosyth to Uphall 10 miles

Phoned up prices, Thurs 17th/Mon 21st June.
Aircraft seat =£68 return
Cabin based on 4 sharing = £333 return (around £83 each)
Price per scooter = £33
Prices don't seem right, but double checked and that seems to be the price, looks more like singles (was an Irish call centre all the same ) Tel 0844 499 0007
Prices will vary, but at the moment thats really cheap, the longer you leave it the dearer it will become.

I'll be taking the chance to drop in on this on the way back from Spain the previous week chaps. The Rosyth ferry has a weekend surcharge, by the way. It wouldn't let me book further in advance than the end of April the last time I tried online.

Hmmm... from the Norfolk Line website (http://www.norfolkline.com/EN/Scotland_Belgium_ferries/Rosyth_Zeebrugge/):-
"All fares presented below are web fares. If you make a booking by telephone or in person, we will charge you a £10 booking fee. This price is charged per booking, so book online and save!". "5.Weekend Supplement of £50 per cabin per way and £15 per pullman seat per way is applied to any departure on Friday or Saturday"

Billy, one problem we noticed, as we were going to book online was 4 sharing a cabin + 2 scooters,..........you could not click on for TWO scooters, its as if it set up for a car only, sure Scottie has mentioned that before. You mentioned above £50 weekend supplement, again we are booked for a midweek sailing both ways.
